The client is a Global Pharmaceutical Company, head-quartered on the East Coast of America with major regional IT and production hubs in London, Basel Switzerland, Hong Kong, Sydney and San Paulo. Having outsourced certain IT infrastructure functions in the UK and Switzerland a number of years ago, the client sort to understand its options in either extending the existing services with or without the existing two suppliers into two additional regions or opening up the entire global infrastructure to competitive tender, including the existing contracts. Given the IT asset base of over $1.9Bn and the lack of capital from suppliers due to the world recession this posed some significant strategic threats to true competition and well as sizeable global delivery issues. A unique hybrid approach has been developed to bring the estate to market in stages and with innovative financing and ownership structures during 2010.
